Masters Men Take on Surf City 10
Cal Coast Masters Men had a really good day at the 2023 Surf City 10 Miler, led by the ageless wonder, Roosevelt Cook. Roosevelt finished 4th overall, first Masters runner, in a blistering 51:55, which even surprised him. 2nd Masters runner and 11th overall was Cole Gatchell, who pulled off perfectly even splits for all 10 miles like he ran this on a track.
Next up was Kurt Whittington and Brian Cook, who went 1, 2 in the 45-49 age group and both broke the one hour barrier for the first time.
Not far behind them was Matt Underwood with an impressive 63:42. He and Rick Herr went 1, 2 in the 55-59 age group. Brian Nelson dominated the 65-69 age group with his 73:16.
Coach Sumner threw down in the 5k, winning his age group with a sub-25 minute performance.
Things are still looking good for Club XC Nationals in December.
